I belong to the Adult Summer Reading Club and have read several books since signing, so here goes a few reviews.$64 Tomatoe is a delightful book for the gardener, humorous with some fine ideas. I enjoyed this one.
Everything Hurts by Bill Scheft – began funny and somewhat interesting and ended up with fowl language. It could have been good but not one for me.

The Weight of Heaven, by Thrity Umrigar. I found this book to be very predictable but also pretty good. It was on the list of staff favorites so I gave it a whirl. It was good, not exceptional.
Man In The Dark by Paul Auster – This one was written very interestingly I must say. It held my interest although at times a little confusing. He ties everything all together nicely by the close of the book. I may read another one of his writings some day.

I carelessly chose to read THE CRYING TREE, by Naseem Rakha. I could not put it down, and it made me cry. A book hasn’t made me cry in a very long time. Her descriptions beautifully made me feel the sense of the places, the weather. They were just enough, the right words, never more than just necessary. The story takes place in Illinois and Oregon, about a death, a family, and forgiveness. It’s Rakha’s first book; I look forward to her next.
